I am looking for information about my ancestors, but I don't know where to start looking for it, so I am counting on your input!
My ancestors were (mostly) ethnically Polish and they grew up and/or lived in nowaday Ukraine.
My great-great-grandmother Józefa Skrypnik (later Pękałowska) was born in Solotyj Potik (Золотий Потік) in May 18, 1884.
She grew up in Schodnica (Східниця), but moved later to Borysław (Борислав) and then to what is Poland nowadays: Brzezówka, Sądkowa, Dobrucowa. While I know a lot about her, there is a great mystery about her mother Michalina Skrypnik, born Piotrowicz. Nobody knows when or where she was born nor do we know where she was buried. My grandma has this theory that she might be buried in Schodnica or in the surrounding area because she definitely died earlier than her husband Bazyli (who died in April 13, 1945 in Brzezówka, Poland). What can be said about Michalina is that she was from a wealthy family, while her husband Bazyli was considered poor. He worked as a forest ranger in a private forest. It is said that it belonged to a Jew and it must have been in the Solotyj Potik area.
I very much hope you can give me a hint. You can answer in German, Polish, English and also in Ukrainian. I am quite good at reading in Ukrainian, but a very poor speaker and writer. Thank you!
